Billingual Initiative | President Greeting Message | BI Admission Criteria / Procedures

Greetings from the President

If you are reading this brief message it’s because you have seriously considered a college education. Congratulations! The decision to continue your studies beyond a high school degree is without a doubt, one of the most important decisions you  will make in your life. I can guarantee you that life is much better when it is enriched with the experiences, knowledge and skills provided by an excellent college education.

I am aware that you have a broad range of higher education options. Founded in 1903, the University of Puerto Rico offers  you a century of experience in postsecondary  education. . With eleven campuses, throughout  the island, ours  is the largest and most prestigious institution of higher education in Puerto Rico, and one of the very best in the Caribbean and Latin America.  It is likewise a leading Hispanic serving university in the United States

As President of the University of Puerto Rico, it is my pleasure to  invite you to join us in this venture of higher education through the Bilingual Initiative for Latino Students., available in our Cayey, Humacao and Río Piedras campuses.  By applying for admission  to our institution, you express your desire to participate in the most significant cultural project  of Puerto Rico.

If you come from a Puerto Rican background, this will be the opportunity to renew your acquaintance with your cultural and linguistic roots. If you come from another Hispanic background, we offer you the experience  of becoming familiar with  a germane culture and of practicing the language of your forbearers.

It is my sincere  hope that, come August,  I will be able to welcome you to our Island and to the University of Puerto Rico.

Antonio García Padilla

We will be happy to provide assistance with your application process.
